Official Google Analytics Integration for Share Buttons

Shareaholic automatically and seamlessly integrates with Google Analytics to provide sharing analytics within your Google Analytics dashboard. To learn more about UTM Parameters and where to find and analyze the data collected, please refer to this article.

How to enable Google Analytics tracking for Social Share Buttons

  1. Login to your Shareaholic.com account.
  2. Select a Site Profile from the My Sites dropdown at the top of the page.
  3. On the Apps page, click the 'Configure' button next to the Content Analytics section

  4. Click the Social Sharing tab. This will display all the settings you can find below.

  5. UTM Campaign Tracking. With this integration you will be able to see how much traffic you get back to your website from social sharing. You can set your own UTM tracking parameters to match them to your marketing campaigns. analyticsutm.png
    Available Template Variables for UTM Campaign Tracking:
    • ${service_name} - Shareaholic will automatically replace the template variable with the service name ex. Whatsapp
    • ${service_type} - Shareaholic will automatically replace the variable with the service type that corresponds to the service ex. mobile. Possible values include bookmark, blog, tumblelog, email, socialnetwork, news, mobile, im, forum, tool, urlshortener. You won't need to do a thing.

  6. Social Interaction Tracking. If you're on the latest version of Google Analytics, you can take advantage of Google's Social Interaction Analytics.  Social Interaction Analytics allows you to measure the number of times users click on social buttons. Just enter your Google Analytics Property ID, and you're ready to go:
