I can't connect Twitter to my Shareaholic account

Follow

Shareaholic uses a custom interface for sharing with Twitter to extend the basic functionality of the standard Twitter share panel with enhancements found in Twitter's Developer API.

Because there is a connection made between Shareaholic and Twitter via OAuth during the sharing process, it is possible that you may encounter an error if at any time there is a conflict.

Don't be alarmed. These errors are usually easy to resolve by following a few simple steps.

This account is already connected to another account.

Because Shareaholic communicates with Twitter through OAuth, a Twitter ID can only be connected with one Shareaholic user account.

If you have used our sharing apps in the past for tweeting, you were initially asked to authorize Shareaholic to connect with your Twitter account. During the OAuth process, if you were not signed into a Shareaholic account, a basic user account was generated so that you could manage this connection from our service.

If at a later time you signed up for a Shareaholic account, you will need to sync your two existing accounts in order to connect your Twitter ID to your new Shareaholic account.

How to merge your Shareaholic account Twitter connection conflict

  1. Visit the Shareaholic homepage.

  2. Open your Account Settings panel (by clicking the gear icon in the top-right).

  3. Select Connected services from the menu on the left.

  4. You will then see more details about the conflict and be given the opportunity to resolve it.

  5. Select the option to merge the other account into your primary one.

  6. This will automatically sync the authorization token with your primary account.

  7. Refresh the page you were previously trying to tweet and tweet away!

Great Scott! Something may be wrong in the cloud.

There are a few reasons you may see this error message when our app tries to post your tweet.

  • The problem could be on our end.

  • It could also be caused by an expired authorization token preventing the connection between our app and Twitter's server.

  • Finally, it may be an issue with posting to Twitter's server due to heavy traffic or a technical problem.

If you encounter this error continuously when trying to share various pages over a period of time (waiting for a few minutes between each attempt), you may be able to resolve the problem with the following steps.

  1. Visit the Shareaholic homepage.

  2. Open your Account Settings panel (by clicking the gear icon in the top-right).

  3. Select Connected services from the menu on the left.

  4. If you were trying to share with Twitter and/or Facebook through the multi-share panel, check that these accounts are both listed on the page without any error notifications.

  5. Sign out of your Shareaholic account.

  6. Empty your browser's cache and delete your cookies.

  7. Use the Login with Twitter button to sign in to your Shareaholic account again.

  8. This will refresh the authorization token used for communication between our app and your Twitter account.

  9. And if you were trying to share with your Facebook account, sign out of Shareaholic again and use the Login with Facebook button to reconnect.

  10. Refresh one of the pages you were trying to share and check if this error is still present.
